Kamala Harris V.P. contender starts taking shots at J.D. Vance

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) is reportedly on the shortlist to be Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate and now he's started taking shots at the man whom he'd be debating were he to get the nod.

Politico reports that Kelly is teeing up attacks on Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) over his stance on funding Ukraine's efforts to defend itself from the Russian military.

"It’s pretty clear to me you’ve got JD Vance who wants to totally abandon Ukraine, and you’ve got Donald Trump who has been in the past rather pro-Russia and leaned in with Vladimir Putin in ways I would never expect the president to do,” Kelly said. “So again, we have a serious choice to make, and I’d be really concerned about what those guys would do to abandon an ally in favor of an adversary. And that would be a much more dangerous world.”

Kelly also gave a shoutout to Harris, the woman who would be his running mate.

"This is about Kamala Harris and making sure we win this election here in how many days, 100, less than 100?” he said. “This is really about her and Donald Trump -- a prosecutor with all this experience running against a guy that's been convicted of 34 felonies and a choice about the future, or are we going back to the past where we were less safe.”

Kelly has experience winning in tough political environments, as in 2022 he defeated Republican Senate hopeful Blake Masters despite the fact that both inflation and illegal border crossings at the time were much higher than they are today.

In addition to Kelly, other potential vice presidential nominees that have been floated include Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
