Trump aide: Mark Zuckerberg has 'vested interest' in donating $1M to inauguration

Jason Miller, a senior advisor to President-elect Donald Trump's transition, argued that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had a "vested interest" in donating $1 million to the incoming president's inauguration fund.

Miller made the claim in an interview with Newsmax on Thursday after Zuckerberg's donation was announced.

"I think certain folks are also going to have, let's just say, vested interest in trying to get back on the president's good side," the Trump adviser remarked. "Maybe they hypothetically funded some drop boxes in the past, or maybe they've engaged in online censorship or things of that nature, or maybe they have run a newspaper that hasn't been particularly fair or ethical with regard to covering politicians in America."

"But what I'm hoping is going to happen here is that there's this recognition that we finally have a leader back in the White House," he added. "We're already seeing it from overseas leaders as they're coming to Mar-a-Lago to visit with President Trump, as they're wanting to come to the inauguration, because America is back."

Zuckerberg's donation came after Trump threatened him with "life in prison" in his book.
