Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) received props for her mature response to the continued counting in a close U.S. Senate election, but as she lost her lead, the Congresswoman took a sharp turn.
"We will continue our effort to make sure all lawful ballots are counted," McSally said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
After the margin of votes grew to give Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) the edge, McSally began searching for voter fraud, according to a Facebook post.
"URGENT: Numerous reports of improper procedures at polling locations. Help us gather the facts. Please call..." the post began, giving a phone number and website where photos or videos of such irregularities could be found. It was attached to a photo with a police light asking fans to report voter fraud with the candidate's logo on it.
A screen capture was posted by Tucson Star reporter Joe Ferguson on Twitter is no longer active on the Facebook pages for McSally. One person asked Ferguson if reports of fraud should actually go to the police or election officials and not to the Republican Party.
"I agree with you but McSally has another goal - mounting a legal challenge before the election results are finalized and canvassed," Ferguson replied. "They have to get a viable argument before the judge in roughly a week or so."
