Bizarre livestream shows Pharma Bro bumbling through Manhattan on way to Sam Bankman-Fried trial

In a peculiar livestream gone wrong, "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli tried to go to the first day of accused cryptocurrency exchange fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried's trial in New York City — but spent much of the time wandering confusedly around Manhattan, not knowing where he was or how to navigate the area, according to a livestream he made that was reported by The Daily Beast on Wednesday.

Shkreli regaled his viewers on his thoughts on police and attorneys — but also shared his irritated rants about not understanding where anything was – at one point asking a police officer for directions to the courthouse, only to be sent in the wrong direction.

When he finally arrived, Shkreli complained, “It’s not my favorite place” and that “the vibes are off.”

Shkreli, who became infamous several years ago after his company drastically hiked the price of a drug used by AIDS patients, was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018 after being convicted of defrauding investors, but was released in 2022 after completing a program to shorten his sentence.

31-year-old Bankman-Fried, who previously ran the cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX and the hedge fund Alameda Research and was hailed as a young visionary in the crypto market, has been charged with securities fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to launder money. Prosecutors allege that Bankman-Fried stole money from FTX and used it to cover losses at his hedge fund.

Shkreli has previously tried to offer advice to Bankman-Fried about transitioning to life in prison, including urging him to become acquainted with rap music.
