Republican Rep Matt Gaetz goes down in flames against Chris Cuomo with weak defense of Brett Kavanagh

On Tuesday, Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went down in flames during an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo while trying to defend Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh's accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford said she would not sit before the Senate until an FBI investigation has taken place.

"If you're also able to launch another investigation at the conclusion of the normal review window then there will be interminable hearings for Supreme Court justice no matter who prosecutes," Gaetz said. "At some point, you have to act on the information you have."

"What is it we hope to find in the seventh investigation about an alleged event that maybe happened 36 years ago?" Gaetz asked.

"This. You can't hold the FBI accountable for what they can't know. Now they know. I'm saying to your point is what did they find they didn't find before. This— because they never knew about this. They should look into it," Cuomo said.
