Far-right Maine politician pointed a gun at a staffer during fight over cryptocurrency: report

On Thursday, The Portsmouth Heraldreported that Max Linn, a former right-wing third-party candidate for Senate in Maine, pointed a gun at a former campaign staffer during an argument over a cryptocurrency investment last year.

"The allegations are included in a protection order brought against businessman Max Linn by a former assistant, Matt McDonald," said the report. "McDonald alleged in court documents that Linn gave him money to invest in cryptocurrency earlier this year but that Linn reversed course upon return from an overseas trip and sought to buy drugs falsely touted as COVID-19 cures. Linn pointed a gun in McDonald's direction when the two met to try to resolve the dispute, McDonald said in the court filing."

Linn denies pointing a gun at McDonald, and also denies intending to buy unproven drugs for COVID-19. A temporary order of protection has been issued for McDonald.

Last year, Linn attracted attention when he cut up a medical face mask on the stage of the Senate debate. He planned to run again for the Senate race in 2022, but was kicked off the ballot for using the signatures of dead people in his candidate filing.
