'You just defended it!' Tapper takes Max Miller to task for 'shockingly reckless' photo
Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) was confronted on CNN by Jake Tapper, not just about the horrific allegations of domestic abuse against his family, but also about the apparent release of naked pictures of his young daughter.
The release of that image came as his attorneys presented evidence and exhibits while trying to defend him from claims that he beat and even scalded members of his family prior to his divorce.
"One of the files was an image of your daughter naked, and it was available in that Dropbox for a day before that photograph was removed," said Tapper, noting that his ex-wife's attorney has warned the image could be illegal under child abuse material laws. "Your attorney has said that he is the one who did that, and he apologizes. But it is shockingly reckless behavior by you and your team."
"I wouldn't say that it'sshockingly reckless," said Miller. "That photothat was put in there isactually a part of aninvestigation by the child andfamily protective services, andthat is already public knowledgethat people can go, and they canlook through court-reported mandates. This is beingtaken very much out of context.There was no genitalia of mydaughter that was exposed. Andthis is once again a verysalacious headline."
"It's not publicly available, and your attorney apologized," Tapper pushed back.
"I'm not defending it," Miller said quickly. "It's awful."
"You just defended it!" Tapper said. "You said it was taken out of context."
"Well, because it is taken out of context," said Miller.
As of this week, the House Ethics Committee is now investigating Miller, who has defied all calls to step down or withdraw from the election.
