Media analyst explains why it's a waste of time to follow Trump on Twitter

Following President Donald Trump on Twitter is a not a sound use of time, a media analyst explained on MSNBC's "The Beat" on Tuesday.

Host Ari Melber reported how fewer people are engaging with Trump on his favorite social media platform.

"Donald Trump is having Twitter problems," Melber reported. "Take a look at some of this data which shows that Interactions with his Tweets -- when people or media respond -- has been falling drastically from just under .6 percent when he was first elected to a much lower figure. The decline is happening as Trump Tweets more often."

"You look at the declining chart and people opposed to Donald Trump might say this is an interesting metric that they might see as good news, because so much of what he Tweets is the most controversial, baseless, packed with lies, so this declining chart would be good news," he noted. "On the flip side, the data shows because he is tweeting more often, it’s spreading it out."

For analysis, Melber interviewed media analyst Jeff Jarvis.

"I don’t read his tweets anymore," Jarvis said, while revealing he does not even follow Trump on Twitter.

"I hate people who repeat themselves. I hate people who repeat themselves," Jarvis repeated. "He does it over and over and over again. We’ve heard it all, we've heard everything he has to say."
