Michael Cohen is 'on a fast track to being disbarred' after felony convictions: report

Longtime Donald Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen is facing disbarment in New York, TMZ reported Wednesday.

"Mr. Cohen does lose his law license upon conviction, which technically does not occur until sentencing," explained Nicholas Biase, spokesperson for the Southern District of New York.

Cohen was deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee, vice-president of the Trump Organization and a board member of the Eric Trump Foundation.

Citing a source familiar with the process, TMZ said Cohen "is on a fast track to being disbarred."

"We're told Cohen will lose his right to practice law as soon as the NY Attorney Grievance Committee files a motion to have him disbarred ... it's just waiting on the official paperwork needed to get the ball rolling," TMZ explained.

Apparently unaware that Cohen is facing disbarment, President Trump on Wednesday tweeted that people should not hire Cohen.

TMZ notes that Cohen would be able to reapply to get his law license back in seven years.
