Amazon.com has listed former President George W. Bush's new book Decision Points in the History category but Michael Moore insisted Friday that it needs to be moved to the crime section.
Moore joined HBO's Bill Maher on his Friday show to talk about the midterm elections and the new Bush book.
"I thought one of the interesting aspects of this last election we had was we have two wars going on -- it was Veterans' Day yesterday -- and nobody on either side mentioned it," Maher pointed out. "Politicians of Democrat or Republican stripe didn't. People didn't ask about it."
"To listen to Bush this week talk about 'it was the right thing to do to go into Iraq because we took out a dictator,'" Maher continued. "His two reasons: A) [Saddam Hussein] was trying to get WMD. Well, no. Not really. No. He was trying to get Viagra at that point in his life. That's true."
"And his other reason, he was consorting with terrorists. Again, not really true. Yeah we took out a dictator but at what cost? This soldiers coming home with brain damage," Maher said.
"That's right," Moore interrupted. "Thousands dead. All as a result of this. I swear to God, historians will mark this as the crime of the century, this phony war that he sent these kids to."
"This book should be put in the crime section of every bookstore and library in America," Moore added.
The day before, Moore's website featured an article that suggested Bush had penned a "true crime book."
In his memoir (which some wise people have already moved in bookstores to the CRIME section) George W. Bush admitted that he authorized that detainees be waterboarded, tortured, a crime under US and international law.Bush’s crime confession coincides with reports that no one will face criminal charges from the US Department of Justice for the destruction of 92 CIA videotapes which contained interrogations using waterboarding.
Where is the accountability for these crimes?
Bush and other criminals will be brought to justice if the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) have their way.
"Sell those books, George W, you may need the money for legal fees yet!" the article concluded.
Decision Points is currently number one on Amazon's bestseller list.
