Migrant mother reunited with 1-year-old says he was 'full of dirt and lice' and apparently was not bathed for 85 days

President Donald Trump's zero-tolerance policy has drawn mass bipartisan criticism for separating children from their families. The Trump administration has torn very young children from their families.

On June 20, President Trump signed an executive order stopping the separation of children. However, several questions have still gone unanswered.

Some families have now been successfully reunited, but the trauma they experienced may last a lifetime.

Speaking to PBS News Hour, Olivia Caceres said she was separated from her 1-year-old for 85 days. Once reunited, she questioned whether anyone bathed her baby.

"Olivia Caceres was separated from her 1-year-old son in November at a legal point of entry. The boy’s father, who was seeking asylum, remains detained," the report said. "It took three months for Caceres to get her son back from government custody."

In Caceres' testimony she says: “he continued to cry when we got home and would hold on to my leg and would not let me go. When I took off his clothes he was full of dirt and lice. It seemed like they had not bathed him the 85 days he was away from us.”
