Mike Pompeo vows to hold Jamal Khashoggi killers accountable -- but he's still seeking 'facts' in the case

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a news conference Tuesday addressing what steps the US planned to take in response to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

The regime's official story is that Khashoggi's death was accidental, following a skirmish with 15 Saudi officials thought to be responsible for his killing.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cast doubt on that version of events, calling Khashoggi's killing "savage" and "premeditated murder."

Pompeo said the State Department is revoking the visas of those suspected to have been involved in the death of Jamal Khashoggi. Also under consideration are potential sanctions, he said.

"We will continue to seek all relevant facts," Pompeo said. "We will continue to explore additional measures to hold those responsible accountable."
