Millionaire South Carolina developer charged with raping woman after reportedly slipping her 'date rape' drug

A prominent South Carolina property developer and former board member of local Episcopal school has been arrested and charged with raping a woman after reportedly slipping something into her wine that caused her to pass out.

According to WYFF, Marcus Sewell McCall, 59 has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct over the attack which occurred in early October.

According to the report, McCall is the principal owner and managing member of McCall Capital LLC, an asset management and development based in Greenville with assets valued at an estimated $200 million.

In a statement, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigators state the unidentified woman described McCall giving her a glass of wine between Oct. 8 and Oct. 11, after which she said she felt disoriented before falling in and out of consciousness.

The woman told investigators she discovered evidence she had been sexually assaulted when she woke up.

According to investigators, McCall appears to have drugged the woman with a substance they described a “date rape” drug.

The developer, who served on the board of Christ Church Episcopal School from 2007 - 2011, was being held in the Greenville County Detention Center with bail set at $50,000.
