Beauty queen's sordid social media past comes to light as she's booted from Miss USA

North Carolina's entrant in the Miss USA pageant will be staying home after being stripped of her title for using anti-Black slurs on social media, new reports show.

Pageant organizers, A Blaize Productions. formally took the sash from Brittany Boltinhouse, 27, on Wednesday after what the organization described as "a thorough review of recently surfaced information," The Guardian is reporting.

Boltinhouse won the title in June and had been preparing to represent North Carolina at the 75th annual Miss USA pageant in Miami later this month.

However, as the Guardian is reporting, the North Carolina news outlet NCBeat reported that Boltinhouse's resurfaced social media posts showed her "using the N-word under the username Sosa the Stallion between 2017 and 2019."

A spokesperson for Blaize Productions stated the decision was made after "careful consideration, multiple conversations, and in consultation with the Miss USA Organization."

The organization acknowledged that "people are capable of growth" and that "grace and accountability can coexist," but noted it must uphold standards and values expected of titleholders.

Thom Brodeur, president and CEO of Miss USA, issued a statement asserting the brand "does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, nor language that strips any person of their dignity – whoever they are."

Brodeur noted that Boltinhouse had apologized but that the apology "will not undo the harm, and it does not change the outcome."
