MLK’s daughter slams Trump's 'distasteful, disturbing, dangerous' 2nd Amendment remarks

Bernice King, the daughter of slain civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke out strongly on Tuesday against threatening statements made by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“As the daughter of a leader who was assassinated, I find #Trump's comments distasteful, disturbing, dangerous," King wrote on Twitter. “His words don't #LiveUp."

King was responding to remarks Trump made in Wilmington, NC on Tuesday in which he exhorted "Second Amendment people" to "do something" about a potential Pres. Hillary Clinton's judicial nominees.

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks,” Trump said, then added, “Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is.”

The lines have set off alarm bells across the nation, with Democrats and Republicans raining condemnation on what many have interpreted as a call to assassinate former Sec. of State Clinton.

The Trump campaign has tried to explain away what the former reality TV star said as a call for "unification" of voters concerned about gun rights and "a joke," but even Trump true believers at the rally seemed to believe that the candidate crossed a line.
