Mom goes on full attack against 'morally bankrupt' NRA for 'militarizing' schools and arming teachers

The founder of gun control advocacy group Moms Demand Action on Friday said the National Rifle Association's attempts to "militarize" schools by arming teachers are "morally bankrupt."

"The idea that the NRA militarizing our schools is gonna help is a fallacy because many of these kids or even adults are on a suicide mission, they don't care if they get killed," Shannon Watts told SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah.

Arming teachers, as President Donald Trump and the NRA are now suggesting, is "the most asinine, morally bankrupt idea in the history of ideas," Watts continued.

"Even police, who are highly-trained, are able to shoot a moving target less than 30 percent of the time," she said. "And we are somehow gonna turn teachers into sharpshooters? It's so bizarre, I can't even believe we're discussing it."

After Watts and Obeidallah's interview aired, an armed Utah teacher accidentally shot herself in the leg in a school bathroom.
