CNN panel rips Trump for an elementary explanation of ISIS: 'Most presidents would have at least read about the region'

On Wednesday, legal commentator Jeffrey Toobin nailed President Donald Trump over his ignorance of foreign policy and the threat of terrorism.

During a cabinet meeting, Trump went on a rant about Defense Secretary James Mattis. Trump, who dodged the draft said that he could have probably made a good general.

He also said that the U.S. should allow the Taliban and ISIS to "just fight each other."

Toobin said, that a president of the United States should have a broader and deeper understanding of the impact of foreign policy.

"Jeffrey, do you think he would have been a good general or who knows?" Wolf said.

"It is so unbelievable. Like most presidents have read a book before they became president and know something about the history of the region or they listen to people or they read briefing papers," Toobin said.

He added, "The idea that the whole story there is ISIS and Taliban fighting each other and let's just leave it, is so incredible that it is really hard to know how to address it."
