MSNBC reporter stunned at how CPAC has obliterated ‘the Bush family’s entire legacy'

MSNBC reporter Garrett Haake spent Friday at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference, where he subtly mocked the right for writing the Bush family entirely out of the movement.

Haake told Velshi that while conservatives' issues had remained "essentially the same" -abortion, immigration, Israel- the context of CPAC had changed "dramatically" in just four years.

"This has become a pro-Trump conference more than it is a conservative conference," Haake said. "He is the uniting factor for all of the folks who are attending here."

"History changes around this conference," Haake continued dramatically. But if viewers were expecting to hear how this annual meeting of conservatives set policies that had transformed the party or the nation, they got something that smacked more of Stalin or Orwell.

"If you were to listen to the speakers over the course of two days, you would hear about three presidents," he said. "Ronald Reagan, who's held up as an exemplar here; then Barack Obama, who is the worst president of all time; and then Donald Trump."

"The Bush family, the entire legacy," he went on, "has been erased from conservative history at this conference."
