MSNBC's Morning Joe: Florida faces a stark choice for governor — a black progressive or a guy who whispers ‘build the wall’ to babies

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Florida voters face a stark choice for governor after Tuesday's primary win by Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum.

The black Democrat upset former congresswoman Gwen Graham, setting up a race against Trump loyalist Ron DeSantis, a Republican lawmaker, and putting Florida and neighboring Georgia on the verge of making history.

"This is cliff diving for both Democrats and Republicans," Scarborough said. "We could have the first two black governors elected in Deep South states."

Stacey Abrams, the former Democratic minority leader of the Georgia House, is facing Republican Brian Kemp, the Georgia secretary of state who's endorsed by President Donald Trump.

DeSantis has made his campaign explicitly pro-Trump, including a TV ad that shows him reading "The Art of the Deal" to his children and building a wall with them out of toy blocks.

"You could have a massive victory for Donald Trump in both of those states," Scarborough said, "where, again, two people that totally bought in to the Trump personality cult, address dressing their babies in 'Make America Great Again' T-shirts and bragging about it, and whispering 'build that wall' to their young infants. I mean, that's about as stark a contrast as you get."
