Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) says the men who went public about their relationships with the late Sen. Lindsey Graham deserve praise. She also says their story points to something bigger about who holds power in Washington.
Greene, once one of President Donald Trump’s most vocal allies in Congress, posted a long statement on X Thursday. It drew more than 1.8 million views.
“The worst kept secret in Washington DC came out today because 3 brave men came out and told the truth and it doesn’t matter if it is after he’s dead,” Greene wrote.
She said the men took a risk by going on camera.
“They had to go on camera and tell intimate details of their personal lives. To the world. That is extremely difficult to do,” she wrote. “If you are critical, would you go on camera and tell your secrets to the entire world? I would bet a lot of money you wouldn’t.”
Then she pivoted.
“Ok but there is more to this,” Greene wrote. “Because this is the world I saw up close in Washington. I saw behind the curtain and saw ALL the wizards.”
She claimed, without offering evidence, that “everyone in the highest levels of power in Washington DC are keeping secrets that would destroy their entire lives,” and that those secrets are “levers of control.”
“Keeps them in line. Makes them a team player,” she wrote. “And will make them fight the hardest on issues that don’t make sense in order to keep their secrets just that. Secrets.”
She called that the “most important lesson America needs to learn.” Powerful leaders, she wrote, keep secrets that compromise them “in the most dangerous ways for the security, safety, and prosperity of our nation.”
Greene also blamed voters for keeping those leaders in office.
“I tried my hardest to fight the entire system on both sides of the aisle and couldn’t beat it because YOU ALL keep voting these people back into office and back into power,” she wrote.
Not everyone bought her new posture. Many replies mocked her break from the MAGA movement she once championed.
“Girl you spent years selling tickets to the show,” one user wrote in response.
