‘Toilet paper is cheaper’: MTG’s new book slammed by unimpressed readers
November 21, 2023
Everyone's a critic, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene learned Tuesday.
Georgia's MAGA MVP took to X Tuesday to excitedly announce the release of her first book, a memoir entitled “MTG.”
“Its publication day!” declared Greene (R-GA). “This is a must read for every American that believes in saving this country.”
The Guardian, the Forward — which quotes the Georgia Republican as saying “I actually support Jewish space lasers” — and her X followers, however, disagreed.
“Toilet paper is cheaper,” replied X user Lisa Smart.
“The big book of Nazi bulls---”wrote another user, Jersey Craig
“The landfills are already overrun with waste,” noted Biggidy Banksta. “Why add more?”

Greene's book fared equally well on Barnes and Noble, where readers gave the book a rating of less than two stars, and on Amazon where “MTG” had earned a 100 percent one-star rating as of 1 p.m. Tuesday.
“This book had absolutely nothing to do with Magic: The Gathering,” wrote reviewer Brian G. “I feel ripped off.”
“Total fiction,” wrote Greg. MTG is living in a different world then most people.”
“I saw my neighbor throwing this book into the trash and ask him if I could read it first,” wrote Tag. “Boy, what a boring mistake.”
The fourth of four reviewers noted that despite Greene’s “America First” rhetoric, the book — released by Winning Team Publishing, co-founded by Donald Trump Jr. — was printed in Canada.
This is Greene’s first book in which the “MAGA firebrand” shares her journey from being a small-town business owner to a U.S. Representative known for her “humor and honesty,” according to the book’s blurb.
The Guardian’s review of “MTG” notes that her recounting of the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol doesn’t quite track with those of her fellow lawmakers.
Martin Pengelly quotes Greene as writing: “Several of the Republican congressmen said, ‘We’re going to stay right here and defend the House chamber.’ As they began barricading the door with furniture, I noticed not one Democrat was willing to stay to defend the chamber.”
Democrats such as Ruben Gallego of Arizona, Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and Jason Crow of Colorado are all reported to have helped with evacuations and gas masks.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene doesn’t exist in the same reality as the rest of us,” the latter told the Guardian. "She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
