Mueller investigation 'was a coup' against the US: Trump spins out of control in rambling interview

On Thursday night, President Donald Trump called in to Fox News host Sean Hannity's show, rambling nonsensically and conspiratorially about all his favorite subjects.

He lashed out at Hillary Clinton, of course, somehow blaming her for the fact that many of campaign aides broke the law — often as part of his own cover-up of ties to Russia.

"She's destroying the lives of people that were on our campaign," he said. "She's destroyed their lives."

He also criticized the conditions under which she was interviewed by the FBI during the email investigation — particularly hypocritical, given that he never sat down for a sworn interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

He declared, absurdly, that the Mueller probe was a plot to oust him — even though there has been copious public evidence showing the legitimate grounds for the investigation.

"This was a coup," he said. "This was an attempted overthrow of the United States government."

"My main takeaway from Trump's 45-minute interview with Hannity is that I am less confident than ever before that we will have a free and fair election next year," said Vox reporter Aaron Rupar.
