Mueller offers 'Birther King' Jerome Corsi a plea deal for one count of perjury: report

Jerome Corsi, the right-wing operative best known for spreading baseless conspiracies about former President Barack Obama's birth certificate, has been reportedly offered a plea deal by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Speaking with MSNBC, Corsi said he was offered a plea deal by Mueller in which he would agree to plead guilty to one charge of perjury.

However, the right-wing One America News Network claims that Corsi will reject the plea and will instead risk jail rather than cooperate with Mueller's probe.

In an interview with NBC News' Anna Schecter, Corsi bitterly complained that Mueller's team wanted him to admit that he willfully lied to investigators.

"They want me to say I willfully lied," Corsi said. "I’m not going to agree that I lied. I did not. I will not lie to save my life. I’d rather sit in prison and rot for as long as these thugs want me to."

Mueller's team has been questioning whether Corsi gave longtime Trump ally Roger Stone advance knowledge of WikiLeaks' plans to release emails stolen from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Stone has denied that he had any direct contact with WikiLeaks during the campaign, despite the fact that he boasted of dining with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in a private email to an associate.
