Mueller’s office asks judge to sentence Manafort to up to 24 years in prison: report

Special counsel Robert Mueller told a judge in Virginia on Friday that the U.S. government recommends a sentence of between 19 to 24 years in prison for Paul Manafort, CNBC reports.

Via a newly released court filing, Mueller also asked the judge to fine Manafort somewhere between $50,000 and $24 million in restitution fines (in addition to forfeiting more than $4 million).

Manafort was convicted in 2018 of multiple crimes connected to his work for pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine. The actual sentencing for the former Trump campaign manager has been on hold while prosecutors and Manafort's lawyers are quibbling over whether he violated an agreement to assist in the continuing investigation into Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 election
