A fringe, anonymous X user with just 5,000 followers has convinced Elon Musk to simmer down on his feud with President Donald Trump.
And the 25-word post from the social media user identified only by the name Alaska has apparently persuaded the world's richest man to backtrack from a multi-billion-dollar threat.
Musk's step down from a blistering fight with President Donald Trump — and the source of the persuasion — left onlookers amazed.
"This is a shame this back and forth," wrote Alaska in a reply to a tweet from Musk in which he said he would start "decommissioning the Dragon spacecraft immediately," referring to a family of Musk-built spacecrafts that are used for multiple purposes, most importantly transporting cargo to the International Space Station.
Musk's decision had been in response to a Truth Social from Trump in which he said the government could save billions by terminating contracts with Musk. It came amid a brutal row as the two former allies fell out over disagreements about Trump's budget bill.
"You are both better than this. Cool off and take a step back for a couple days," advised Alaska.
Musk replied: "Good advice.
"Ok, we won't decommission Dragon."
Social media users. were gobsmacked.
"Shoutout to this guy with 17 followers for saving space exploration," wrote an X user identified as Greg, exaggerating the paltry number of Alaska's followers.
