Nadler throws down the gauntlet -- and gives DOJ until May 1 to hand over the full Mueller report

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) on Friday slapped the Department of Justice with a subpoena that gives the DOJ until May 1st give Congress access to the special counsel Robert Mueller's full report and the "underlying evidence" surrounding it.

"I am open to working with the Department to reach a reasonable accommodation for access to these materials," Nadler said in a statement announcing the subpoena. "However, I cannot cannot accept any proposal which leaves most of Congress in the dark, as they grapple with their duties of legislation, oversight and constitutional accountability."

Nadler went on to say that the redactions made in the report "appear to be significant" and he said that "we have so far seen none of the actual evidence that the special counsel developed to make this case."

He added that "even the redacted version of the report outlines serious instances of wrongdoing by President Trump and some of his closest associate."
