Rep. Nancy Mace received a brutal fact check Monday on Fox News after slamming a bipartisan border protection bill she admitted she hadn’t finished reading.
“This bill keeps the border wide open,” Mace said. “The measures that we feel are extremely undesirable, that keep our border open, that water down the asylum bill, it’s not good for the country.”
That’s when host Martha MacCallum cut in.

“They say exactly the opposite,” MacCallum said. “Have you read all 370 pages of this bill?”
Mace (R-SC) admitted she had 50 pages to go.
MacCallum then detailed the bill's provisions, negotiated by top-level senators on both sides of the aisle, which include raising the standard for asylum claims, doubling the number of deportation flights, and investing $650 million to expand a southern border wall.
“Isn’t getting something better than getting nothing?” MacCallum asked. “Because this problem isn’t going away.”
Mace claimed there was a “loophole” on the next page that would undo the progress conservative backer Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) had championed.
“[It] allows bureaucrats to make these decisions rather than courts,” Mace said. “We’re not being told the truth here.”
MacCallum looked confused.
Mace’s response also confused users on the social media site "X," who watched the exchange in a video clip Monday afternoon.
“She didn't read it,” quipped Chris Nelson. “Trump opposes it, and that's good enough for her.”
Mace’s interview arrived on the heels of a new report that showed nearly her entire office staff had tendered resignation since Nov. 1.
“She should have her staff read it,” suggested @NOTNSAHELPDESK. “Oh wait, they all quit.”
