A resurfaced video shows White House aide Natalie Harp professing an intense, almost mystical devotion to President Trump years before she ever entered his orbit, deepening questions about one of Washington's strangest relationships.
The unearthed video of Harp, whose obsessive ties to Trump have been increasingly under scrutiny and earned her the name "the human printer" for how often she gives him good news clippings, was detailed by Jonathan Last's reporting in The Bulwark on Wednesday.
The 96-second clip, filmed selfie-style beside a lake and believed to have been recorded around 2017 when Harp was in her mid-20s, was posted to Twitter in June 2018 by MAGA activist Kareem Lanier, who ran a Trump surrogate organization tied to former Trump fixer Michael Cohen. In it, Harp claims she was the victim of a 2015 medical error, saying she was accidentally infused with sterile water and went into hemorrhagic shock, losing what she described as nearly all of her blood platelets due to a rare condition. She said she was left with cancer, chronic pain, and mounting medical bills.
Harp wraps up the video crediting Trump's political rise, without specifying how, for changing her fate.
"The elites thought they held the Trump card," Harp said.
Medical experts say her account doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Sterile-water infusion errors are extremely rare, and documented cases show other patients have survived them, contradicting both Harp's framing and Lanier's caption describing her as the "only survivor" of an error he claimed had killed more than 4,000 people. Harp later built on the story in a 2019 LinkedIn essay that went viral, landing her a Fox & Friends interview that reportedly caught Trump's attention, where she credited a Trump-backed law with saving her life.
It's not the first time holes have been punched in Harp's medical story. She proclaimed at the 2020 Republican National Convention that Trump's "right to try" legislation saved her from cancer, but analysts at the time pointed out her experimental treatment was legal before that law even took effect.
The video's resurfacing comes just days after the Daily Beast published private letters in which Harp called Trump her "guardian and protector," fueling ongoing scrutiny — including from her own brother, who has publicly described the relationship as "very unhealthy" — over just how far back her fixation with the president actually runs.
