Republican super PACs are flush with cash after Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Mirian made gigantic contributions in September, The Washington Postreported Saturday.
The Adelsons donated $25 million to the Senate Leadership Fund in September and another $32 million to other GOP super PACs, which are allowed to receive unlimited contributions.
"The latest donation brings their total contributions to the midterms to at least $112 million — cementing their status as the biggest donors this election," The Post reported.
Also during September, the leadership super PACs aligned with Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) out-raised their Democratic counterparts $112 million to $74.7 million.
The leadership funds spent over $112 million on advertising, while their Democratic counterparts spent $37.7 million.
In 2017, President Donald Trump reportedly personally lobbied Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to approve an Adelson casino project.
