Four teens in New York were arrested after posting mock school shooting videos that included them uttering racist epithets while pretending to gun people down.
Albany's Times-Union newspaper reported that four Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School students were arrested after making videos that the county sheriff called "very graphic, very racist and horrifying."
"It wasn't something that was just funny," Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said. "Whatever their intentions were, we may never know, it was a horrifying, graphic video filled with extreme racism."
In one video, which began with one of the teens saying "I've always hated school," a student enters the screen with what authorities believe was a fake gun before discussing racism and saying the N-word, Albany's News10 reported.
A 10-year-old girl who played the "victim" in the video, News10 noted, tried to hide from the fake shooter but was pulled out and "shot" a few more times. Two teens aged 14 and 15 were also involved in making the video, as well as a minor of unknown age who filmed it, the Times-Union noted.
After the video was reported to the police, they searched the houses of the minors involved but only found bb guns and fake weapons.
Nonetheless, Sheriff Apple told News10 he considers the videos to constitute a credible threat.
The minors involved were charged with making "terroristic threats" and suspended indefinitely, the report noted.
