New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush suspended over accusations of predatory behavior
New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush repeatedly and inappropriately kissed young female colleagues, according to an article published Monday in Vox.
The editorial director of the website, Laura McGann, said she experienced and witnessed Thrush subjecting young female journalists to predatory behavior, including unwanted groping and kissing.
McGann worked with Thrush at Politico five years ago. She claims that Thrush placed his hand on her thigh and suddenly started kissing her at a bar in Virginia.
Three other women also described similar experiences with Thrush, who is now a White House correspondent for the New York Times.
Thrush told Vox he was sorry if he made any woman feel uncomfortable or if he behaved inappropriately. He has been suspended at the New York Times.
"The behavior attributed to Glenn in this Vox story is very concerning and not in keeping with the standards and values of The New York Times,” the senior vice president of communications for the New York Times, Eileen Murphy, told Vox.
“We intend to fully investigate and while we do, Glenn will be suspended. We support his decision to enter a substance abuse program. In the meantime, we will not be commenting further.”
