House Judiciary Committee member and former military prosecutor Ted Lieu (D-CA) slammed Republican leadership for leaving Washington, DC for vacation amidst the ongoing child separation crisis at the southern border.
Rep. Lieu, an Air Force Reserve colonel who served on active duty in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, wished a "nice vacation" for his colleagues in a withering lecture on the floor of the House.
"We are soon going to be heading off into our July 4th recess," Lieu noted.
"As we sit here today, there's still thousands of babies and kids ripped away from their parents by Trump's child separation policy that have not been reunited.
"That is evil and it's shameful that no democratic bills have been brought on this floor to address that," Lieu concluded.
"Have a nice vacation," he added.
