President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Wednesday afternoon to post about his much-anticipated phone call with outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
"Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs," Trump wrote. "I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped."
Trump continued, "He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, 'That’s not good enough.'"
Trump wrote that the call ended in a “somewhat” friendly manner, then threw in some sort of conspiracy theory:
"He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here? I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!"

On Tuesday, Trump implemented 25% tariffs on goods coming in from Canada and Mexico, claiming the two countries hadn't done enough to curb the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.
According to the BBC, the amount of fentanyl reaching the U.S. through Canada is minimal.
Almost all of the 7,793 lbs of fentanyl (98%) that came into the U.S. since September "was intercepted at the southwest border with Mexico. Less than 1% was seized across the northern US border with Canada."
