NY Republican plans to start packing heat at the Capitol: ‘It’s going to be in my pocket’

Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) will bring his gun with him to the Capitol after the shooting in Alexandria, Virginia Wednesday.

According to The Buffalo News Collins blamed Democrats for "rhetoric" he called "outrageous." He went on to point a finger at the left for "the finger-pointing" and urged them to "tone down" the "angst and the anger directed at Donald Trump" and "his supporters."

"On a rare occasion I'd have my gun in the glove box or something, but it's going to be in my pocket from this day forward," Collins said. He went on to urge people to be "polite."

President Barack Obama endured eight years of more threats than any other president in history. Elected Republicans went so far as to compare Obama to Hitler, call him a liar during a State of the Union Address, accuse him of being an "avowed Muslim" and the "founder of ISIS" and alleged he wanted to kill the elderly with death panels.

He "has no legal right to be calling himself president," one supporter of former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) said of Obama. Santorum didn't correct her as Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) had done in 2008.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) gained early support for his 2012 presidential run when he accused Obama of being a "Kenyan anti-Colonial mindset" and operating a "secular socialist machine." He went on to accuse Obama of being the "most radical president in American history."

Collins is not on record asking any of those members of his party to "tone down" the "angst and the anger directed at" the president.
