NYT’s Charles Blow blasts Fox News — which is basically running the US through Donald Trump

In his Monday column, New York Times writer Charles Blow outlined the horrors of living in a country where a television network is calling the shots.

He began by explaining the few times that he appeared a few times on the network and the "shallow" nature of debate. Notably, Blow lamented he'd become part of a propaganda machine that "has an aversion to the truth." He'd hoped he could do his part to help correct the record and bring some respectability. Instead, he learned they were "beyond redemption."

"I was simply being used to help give the show the appearance of fairness, impartiality and legitimacy, when it was anything but," Blow explained. Joining the network, he became part of "the machine."

Now, however, those anchors and commentators are changing the world, simply by what they discuss. As President Donald Trump sits for hours each morning, engrossed in his Fox News, he begins to tweet policy, or make decisions based on what he sees suggested.

Citing The Guardian, Blow explained it's the crow's "court sycophant, whispering in the ear of the king, criticizing his perceived enemies and fluffing his feathers.”

Politico Magazine warned that Fox seems to design the programming specifically for Trump himself. So the shows end up being his daily "ego fix."

Quoting an analysis of pundit commentary on Fox News, PunditFact revealed only 10 percent managed to rate true. Blow noted the site didn't breakdown truthiness based on show, though it did note multiple "pants on fire" ratings from hosts Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy.

Though, Blow explained that saying Kilmeade has a casual relationship with the truth would belittle the scope of the lies. The "Fox & Friends" host once claimed, “the Swedes have pure genes because they marry other Swedes.” He noted that Finland similarly has a "pure society," which somehow made them better than the United States. "We keep marrying other species and other ethnics.”

None of it would matter if the show wasn't the No. 1 show in the U.S. for the 195th straight month. So, not only is the president using the network's lies to form his opinions, the rest of the country is too.
