Oath Keeper's lawyer asks court if infrastructure bill funds can be siphoned off to repair MAGA rioters' jail

An attorney representing a member of the Oath Keepers militia has asked courts to look into the recently passed bipartisan infrastructure bill to see if it can be used to repair the D.C. jail currently housing many MAGA rioters.

As flagged by NBC 4 Washington's Scott MacFarlane, the lawyer for Oath Keepers leader Kelly Meggs in a recent court filing urged "the executive/administrative functions of the Court to officially explore with the Bureau of Prisons and the Congress whether any of the trillions of dollars of infrastructure spending may be already allocated or re-programmed under the Impoundment Act to repair and upgrade the D.C. Jail facilities."

The attorney justified the request by saying that "upgrading the jail facilities is a COVID-related precuation" and that "reports of the dreaded black mold that affects many buildings required a rather hasty clean-up" that they alleged seemed "too quick to be fully effective."

Many Capitol rioters have complained for months about the conditions in the D.C. jail where many of them are housed, although it's not at all clear that the conditions there are worse compared to prisons everywhere else in the United States.
