Oregon man arrested for celebrating Trump victory by shooting gun into street

Police arrested a Springfield, Oregon man Tuesday on charges of disorderly conduct after he fired a shot into the street in celebration of president-elect Donald Trump.

According to the Oregon Register-Guard, an intoxicated Michael Grant Bratton grabbed a shotgun and fired into the street. Neighbors called the cops to report someone “drunk and paying with a gun” in front of the caller’s house.

Authorities booked Bratton on charges of second-degree disorderly conducts and unlawful use of a weapon. Police recovered the handgun and no injuries were reported.

Trump’s triumph is viewed win for gun rights activists. The NRa endorsed Trump for president back in May, and in a statement Wednesday, the association congratulated the president-elect on his victory. “

Trump’s victory repudiates the assertion by gun control advocates that the political calculus regarding the Second Amendment has changed,” the statement said.

Trump himself has a historically pro-gun record. In an interview with MSNBC’s Katy Tur last year, Trump admitted he has a license to carry, but declined to go into further detail about where he uses his gun.

And at a rally in Iowa during the Republican primaries, the president-elect posited he "could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody” without losing any voters.
