Ohio school employee investigated for threatening to turn Pride Parade into 'another Boston Marathon'

Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival and Parade was the subject of threats by an employee of the local school district.

"The Columbus Police Department and Homeland Security are looking into a Facebook post that called for the killing of LGBTQ people, ahead of this weekend’s Pride Festival," according to WCMH-TV, the Columbus, Ohio NBC affiliate.

“I hope this event turns out like the Boston Marathon a few year’s (sic) back.” WCMH reported the suspect posted. “All [LGBTQ people] should be killed or at least relocated.”

The author of the threat was identified by the Columbus Dispatch as Chris Dodds, 48, who has worked for the district for over a decade.

Columbus City Schools announced Friday that the employee will be fired.

"More importantly, we are gearing up for an even larger contingent of teachers, staff, students, families and allies planning to march together at tomorrow’s Pride Parade," Columbus City Schools announced proudly. "We are expecting well over 400 people – upward of 500 now as people positively respond to the immediate actions we took as a District following this employee’s unacceptable actions."

The Columbus Pride Parade is a destination event with over a half million participants expected.

Local law enforcement has been seeking to reassure the community in light of the threats and history of anti-LBGT bigotry in America.
