Outgoing GOP senator aghast that Fox & Friends made Trump shut down the government: 'This is juvenile!'

Outgoing Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) on Friday decried the amount of power that conservative media personalities such as Rush Limbaugh and the hosts of "Fox & Friends" have over the Republican Party.

Speaking with reporters, Corker said he was flabbergasted that President Donald Trump decided to shut down the government on Thursday just because Fox News' Brian Kilmeade said he would look weak if he signed off on a government funding bill that didn't include money for his border wall.

"Do we succumb to tyranny of radio talk show hosts?" Corker asked reporters. "We have two talk-radio show hosts who basically influenced the president, and we’re in a shutdown mode. It’s just -- that’s tyranny, isn’t it?"

Corker went on to declare how absurd it was that the federal government was about to shut down just because people said mean things about him on "Fox & Friends."

"I mean, this is a juvenile place we find ourselves," the outgoing senator fumed. "The reason we're here is that we have a couple talk-radio hosts that get the president spun up."
