Palin says 'I-Told-Ya-So' on Ukraine prediction: 'I could see this one from Alaska'

Sarah Palin is claiming that she has been vindicated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Yes, I could see this one from Alaska,” Palin said Friday in a Facebook post. “I'm usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as ‘an extremely far-fetched scenario’ by the ‘high-brow’ Foreign Policy magazine.”

The former half-term governor of Alaska and failed 2008 vice presidential candidate suggested that Russia would be emboldened to make the move as one of four hypothetical scenarios she predicted if Barack Obama was elected president.

“’After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next,’” Palin predicted in one scenario.

Foreign Policy magazine described her prediction at the time as “strange” and “extremely far-fetched.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin received permission Saturday from his parliament on to use military force to protect Russian citizens in Ukraine and ignored Western pleas not to intervene, saying he had a right to defend Russian interest and nationals.

The U.S. has said it remains focused on economic, diplomatic and political measures, and has said military intervention has not been seriously considered.
