Pastor who wants gay people executed says nobody is more persecuted than the Duggars

Kevin Swanson, a right-wing Christian pastor who believes LGBT people should be put to death, thinks the Duggars are persecuted.

Speaking at the National Religious Liberties Conference over the weekend, a swaying, panting Swanson said, in a video posted by Right Wing Watch, that the "Quiverfull" movement is one of the most persecuted in the country.

The Duggar family are perhaps the most visible and emblematic of the movement, a fundamentalist Christian belief that sees having as many children as possible as a virtue and forbids any use of contraception or family planning.

"I've never seen anybody receive such persecution, at least in this country, as the Full Quiver folks," Swanson said.

The statement came after Swanson said Playboy, Penthouse, "illegitimate divorces" and birth control could be "blamed" for same-sex marriage.

"Some of the greatest preachers in America are saying contraception was a problem from the beginning," Swanson said.

Swanson was the chief organizer of the conference, which featured speakers that included three GOP candidates, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal.
