Republican Rep. Pat Fallon (TX) just made a very public flip when it comes to Joe Biden's "impeachment inquiry."
Political reporter Aaron Ruparcaptured Fallon's 2023 comments — that directly contradict a new statement he made Wednesday on Fox Business.
Fallon is a member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, chaired by Rep. James Comer (R-KY).
"This is damning evidence that Biden is compromised," Fallon claimed last year. "Remember when Democrats and their pals in the media went as far as to question whether this document even exists?"
"As the evidence keeps coming in, it’s clear to me that Hunter Biden was acting as his father’s bagman," Fallon told his district at a town hall meeting.
But, less than seven months later, Fallon was downplaying the importance of the testimony that came from FBI informant Alexander Smirnov and claimed Biden took a $5 million bribe. Smirnov was arrested last week and accused of lying to the FBI, and the Department of Justice believes he got his "dirt" from Russian intelligence.
"Well the FD-1023 is in the periphery, it’s ancillary from the topic,” Fallon said on Wednesday to Fox Business, referring a form the FBI uses to record tips.
“The 1023 was only ever as good as the informant.”

Republicans have rushed to delete mention of Smirnov in recent documents while trying to salvage what's left of their inquiry.
Meanwhile, GOP lawmakers like Fallon are trying to spin the info as anything but the destruction of their whole case.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday Rep.Jamie Raskin (D-MD)the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said “The impeachment investigation essentially ended yesterday — in substance if not in form — with the explosive revelation that Mr. Smirnov’s allegations about Ukrainian Burisma payments to Joe Biden were concocted along with Russian intelligence agents.”
