Former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne claims to have material that could be used against special counsel Jack Smith.
The right-wing former tech mogul responded to Donald Trump's revelation that he had received a target letter in the Jan. 6 investigation by suggesting he had damning video involving Smith, who has twice served posts to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, reported Newsweek.
"It might also come down to what I have on Jack Smith," Byrne tweeted. "On a previous stop on his journey, Jack was a very naughty boy. And was videotaped in his naughtiness. He doesn't know that yet. But I suppose he does now."
Byrne, who resigned from Overstock in 2019 over his relationship with suspected Russian spy Maria Butina, testified for nearly eight hours last July in the House select committee investigation of Trump's efforts to remain in power despite his 2020 election loss.
Congressional investigators asked Byrne about his false claims about election fraud and his involvement in a White House meeting in December 2020 with former national security adviser Michael Flynn, attorney Sidney Powell, and in which Smith's team has taken an interest.
"Hi Jack Smith, I take all responsibility," Byrne tweeted in response to a report on that development. "Best of all, with my eidetic memory I can tell you amazing detail about it. 'Parrot-like,' say some. Call collect. I'm here to help."
