Arizona Republicans ripped for ‘deafening and horrifying’ silence on Paul Gosar
An Arizona Republic columnist on Wednesday blasted Republicans in her state for refusing to condemn controversial Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ).
Gosar is facing a censure vote after he "posted a manipulated video on his social media accounts depicting himself killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joseph Biden."
The resolution says the "leadership of the Republican Party has failed to condemn Representative Gosar's threats of violence against the president of the United States and a fellow member of Congress."
Republicans in Arizona are also facing heat for not condemning Gosar's actions.

"It has now been 10 days since Rep. Paul Gosar posted an anime video of himself killing a fellow member of Congress and flying toward President Joe Biden with swords swinging," Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts wrote. "As House Democrats prepare to vote on a resolution to censure Gosar, let's check in, shall we, with the condemnation flowing forth from his fellow Republicans, both here in Arizona and across the nation."
But she noted that GOP Reps. Andy Biggs, Debbie Lesko, and David Schweikert have all been silent. She noted the same of Republican Gov. Doug Ducey and Attorney General Mark Brnovich.
"Gosar, by continuing to plead his case in far-right circles, is clearly worried about what will happen when that censure resolution is put to a public vote on Wednesday and his Republican colleagues are forced to take a stand," she wrote. "Sadly, he likely doesn't have to worry. Not about Republican criticism for his sick video and not about an actual mainstream Republican candidate challenging him next year in the overwhelmingly Republican district he represents."
Roberts suggested there were important lessons to be learned by voters.
"Among Republicans, the silence over the last 10 days has been deafening and horrifying," she wrote. "And illuminating."
