'I broke them': Comedian describes how he heckled ICE to the extreme

Robby Roadsteamer believes that he broke the officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Portland, Oregon, after dressing up like a giraffe and singing his own version of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?"

President Donald Trump has sent in National Guard soldiers and federal agents into Washington, D.C., Portland, and Chicago, Illinois, under the guise that there is too much crime in so-called "blue cities."

Using alternative lyrics and occasionally shouting heckles at "glorified mall cops" with "super-soakers," Roadsteamer told The Bulwark's Tim Miller that he thinks he finally "broke them."

"It's a really fun scene to a certain degree," Roadsteamer said of the protest/gatherings in Portland made up of tents with food and performance artists.

"So I'm doing the Rod Stewart and I'm making fun of them left and right. They're getting pissed. They're getting pissed. There's no question. And you see the video today, they're teeing off on me with pepperballs. Like you can see the dust. it looks like Rambo!" he recalled.

"So, it's like, come on, come on, what's the name of that plane? I broke them. You could see the guys on the top of the roof very — completely frustrated," he continued. "And so they send out the guys, and you can see the video and stuff, and they grab me. And yeah they pull me into the detention center."

Miller asked what he was charged with, and Roadsteamer pulled out a long sheet of paper that he said resembled a CVS receipt.

"It's a citation," he said. "And it said, basically, failure to comply with the directions of a law enforcement officer."

They said he kept crossing the "blue line" where the protest area was blocked off. The problem, however, is that Roadsteamer brought his own people to film the ordeal. The videos don't show him crossing the line until the officers drag him over it.

"I was like, you guys got nothin on me! I'm from New England! We got six rings! Don't tell me how to do this thing," he quipped, citing the six Super Bowl rings for the New England Patriots.

Roadsteamer and Miller met at the post-prison press conference with Steve Bannon where Roadsteamer heckled Bannon. He was able to "infiltrate" the press, he said, by wearing an all-red suit. Roadsteamer asked when the next insurrection would be.

"But they want me to come back to Portland, that's the inconvenience," said Roadsteamer. "They thought they could humiliate me by — I have to go back to Boston. You know, when they realized I wasn't getting scared by their 'federal charges' bulls----. They were like, you're gonna have to come back to Portland. Well, it's gonna suck! Well, I'm gonna come back with my dream team of lawyers, cause you guys are getting sued for $20 million. Because those pepper pills are toxic and I got all the footage of and stuff. You guys unlawfully detaining me here."

Miller noted that while in Portland, Roadsteamer dressed as a unicorn, a frog, a hippo, and a giraffe. He was "smoking a joint" and "eating vegan macaroni and cheese."
