As soon as news broke that President Donald Trump ordered high-ranking military officials to plan a parade in his honor, Twitter reacted with predictable disgust.
"If he wanted to take part in a military parade," one user noted, "maybe he shouldn’t have dodged the draft."
NBC news correspondent Steve Kornacki noted that the last time the US held a military parade was nearly 27 years ago in 1991.
"Enough of this authoritarian BS," yet another user noted. "Trump doesn't want to emulate France. He wants to emulate North Korea. And pre-war Germany."
