'Random guy' in Josh Duggar's alleged OkCupid profile considering legal action

The "random guy" whose image the embattled Josh Duggar used on his alleged OkCupid account is "considering his legal options" and says Duggar's use of his photo is causing him problems.

On Wednesday, Gawker revealed that Duggar, an anti-LGBT activist and former director of the Family Research Council had two paid accounts with Ashley Madison, a website dedicated to helping people cheat on their spouses.

Twitter users googled his Ashley Madison handle, "joesmithsonnwa@gmail.com," and found an OkCupid profile using the same email address.

But the profile picture on the dating website is not of Duggar. It's reportedly Matthew McCarthy, a Hollywood-based DJ and bartender. McCarthy's image is the third one pulled up on Google with the search term "random guy."

McCarthy told celebrity news website TMZ that it's his photo that his involuntary involvement with the Duggar mess has cost him personally. He has already lost a gig as a result and considers it a "defamation of character."

The OkCupid account has since been deleted, Gawker reports.

Duggar and his family were featured in the TLC reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting. The Duggars have actively campaigned against same-sex marriage and LGBT rights. Last year, matriarch Michelle Duggar's voice in robocalls warned Fayetteville, Arkansas residents that an ordinance assuring civil rights be extended to transgender people would put children at risk for molestation, the Washington Post reports.

In May, In Touch Weekly revealed that it was Duggar who molested children -- five young girls, including his own sisters.

On Thursday, Duggar released a statement in which he admitted he had been "the biggest hypocrite."

"The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings," he wrote. "As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example."
