Raw Story is leaving X — for good reason

We want to inform you that Raw Story will no longer post on our official editorial account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

This decision has been a long time coming. As the U.S. faces the most controversial presidency in our history, it’s clear that X has become a breeding ground for far-right disinformation, hate speech, and conspiracy theories — often amplified by the platform’s owner, Elon Musk.

The risks of continuing to engage there now outweigh the rewards, and we believe our resources are better spent amplifying fearless journalism through platforms that reflect our values.

To be clear: readers can still share our stories on X, and our reporters may occasionally use the platform for news-gathering purposes or to embed relevant content when reporting warrants it.

But Raw Story will no longer participate in promoting our journalism through a platform that increasingly serves as a megaphone for authoritarian propaganda and misinformation.

Raw Story’s independence has always been fueled by our readers — not Big Tech algorithms. Our breaking news reporting is free to read and open to all our readers, and we invite you to support us directly to help keep it that way.
