Religious leaders are trying to get Trump DC hotel's liquor license revoked for the most hilarious reason

A new petition is trying to get the city of Washington, DC to revoke the liquor license for the Trump International Hotel on the basis that owner President Donald Trump lacks moral character.

As the Washington Post's David Fahrenthold reports, the complaint filed with the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Commission notes that the city's laws on liquor licenses clearly state that anyone who receives such a license should be "of good character."

Because of the multitude of scandals surrounding Trump, his administration, his businesses and his family, the complaint asserts, he does not meet the "good character" qualification and should thus have his hotel's liquor license revoked.

"Donald Trump, the true and actual owner of the Trump International Hotel, is not a person of good character," the complaint bluntly states. "The Board owes it to the public to investigate the owner’s lack of good character now."

The complaint goes on to make multiple claims that demonstrate Trump's poor character, including his serial lying, his bad faith in dealing with others, his continued associations with "known criminals," and the multiple sexual assault allegations leveled against him.

The complaint has been signed by several priests and rabbis who work in Washington DC, including Rev. William Lamar IV, the Senior Pastor at the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church; Rev. Jennifer Butler, the founding Executive Director of Faith in Public Life; Rev. Dr. Timothy Tee Boddie, a Baptist preacher who serves as the General Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer of the Progressive National Baptist Convention; Rabbi Jack Moline, who has served as Executive Director and President of Interfaith Alliance; and Rabbi Aaron Potek, an Orthodox Jewish rabbi who has worked with institutions such as the Nesiya Institute in Israel, Impact and Genesis in Boston, and Moriah College in Sydney.
