On Tuesday, President Donald Trump once again honed in on destroying the Affordable Care Act, despite objections by top administration officials.
Although Republicans have made repealing Obamacare the cornerstone of their policy platform for years, some GOP lawmakers worry that Americans will be angry if their health benefits are taken away.
Former GOP Congressman Charlie Dent (R-PA) appeared on CNN Wednesday to wonder why Trump would throw himself into such a controversial issue ahead of 2020.
"Oh my, this is a real head spinner," Dent said. "Think of it this way. Part of the problem with the president on health care, here was his plan, we're going to cover everybody, it's going to cost less and it's going to be beautiful," Dent observed.
"He never played out his plans for health care. That's a big reason why the whole thing failed. I can't understand why they would bring this up."
